Overview

This course provides an introduction to a director’s duties and legal responsibilities and the board’s role in corporate governance and risk management. You’ll leave with confidence to tackle boardroom challenges, equipped to take your career to the next level.

With a focus on real-world scenarios, this course will give you practical understanding and applicable strategies to bring best practice to the boardroom. You’ll gain an in-depth understanding of the board’s role in corporate governance and feel empowered to manage stakeholders effectively while acting in your organisation’s best interests. This course can be combined with other modules to qualify for the Certificate in Company Direction.

This two day course is ran virtually and face to face.

Description

Develop a practical understanding of best practice in the boardroom. In addition to recognising the director’s key legal responsibilities, you will be conversant with the board’s role in corporate governance and be able to ensure transparency in internal procedures such as executive appointment and remuneration. You’ll be able to efficiently assess risk, and know how to effectively manage stakeholders while acting in your organisation’s best interests.

By attending this course you will gain the knowledge and skills to:

  • understand the key duties, roles and legal responsibilities of the director
  • identify the differences between direction, management and ownership
  • develop strategies for delivering best practice in the boardroom
  • examine the board’s role in corporate governance and improve board effectiveness

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered.
